In this submission to the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD), ISHR presents a report addressing the challenges to implementation of China’s treaty obligations in the areas of:

1. The situation of civil society organisations in China and restrictions on their activities;
2. The development of the legal profession in China and challenges to its independence; and
3. Reprisals against defenders for engagement with the UN.

This document is a list of the disappeared persons with regard to whom the Committee has requested a State party to take action, in application of Article 30 of the International Convention for the Protection of all Persons against Enforced Disappearance.

The present report provides an overview of the current working methods of eight of the ten human rights Treaty Bodies (CERD; CESCR; CCPR; CEDAW; CAT; CRC; CMW; CRPD). The report is confined to the working methods of the Treaty Bodies with respect to the reporting process. Consequently, it does not consider the Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture (SPT), which is mandated to set up a system of regular visits to places where people are deprived of their liberty.

In this report, the Committee against Torture (CAT) considered the special report of Burundi and adopted conclusions and recommendations regarding the practice of torture in the country. The Committee seized the opportunity of this review to point out alarming practices of Burundian authorities.

In this report, the Committee against Torture (CAT) considered the implementation of the Convention in the Syrian Arab Republic in the absence of the special report requested by the Committee. The Committee adopted conclusions and recommendations regarding the practice of torture in the country, and seized the opportunity of this review to point out alarming practices.

In this report, the Committee against Torture (CAT) considered the second periodic report of Israel and adopted conclusions and recommendations regarding the practice of torture in the country. The Committee seized the opportunity of this review both to underline positive developments within Israel and to point out alarming practices.

This third-party intervention was submitted to the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in the case of a minor who was unlawfully returned to Morocco from Spain. The communication analyses the legal principles and jurisprudence related to the obligations of States parties.

This report is the adoption by the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) of its decision upon a complaint submitted to the Committee about the unlawful return of a minor to Morocco from Spain.

This alternative report was compiled by civil society organisations in response to the document prepared by the United Kingdom detailing the progress it has made on implementing recommendations of the CRPD. The alternative report highlights remaining issues and concerns with the continually deteriorating situation of persons with disabilities in the United Kingdom.

In this document, the United Kingdom responds to the recommendations made by the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in consequence of the inquiry initiated by civil society.
